London Eye (Score & Parts) (Faber Edition: Faber Brass Band Series)

London Eye (Score & Parts) (Faber Edition: Faber Brass Band Series) Review

London Eye is an incredibly large rotating wheel situated on the South Bank of the River Thames. This movement depicts a 'flight' on this riverside wheel, at the top of which the panoramic view of London is breathtaking and the expanse of the music is a suitable depiction of that view.

This piece is the second movement of Nigel Hess' New London Pictures which represents elements of London in the 21st Century.

Horn and Conductor: Reminiscences of a Practitioner

Horn and Conductor: Reminiscences of a Practitioner Review

In this volume, HAROLD MEEK, former first horn of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, shares anecdotes and insights about the joys and travails of playing under Klemperer, Koussevitzky, Munch, and others. He also brings together some important information about changes in the instrument itself, including a little-known letter from the great British horn virtuoso, Dennis Brain, about the virtues of different makes of horn. A valuable appendix prints interpretively challenging horn passages from three dozen masterpieces, and evaluates the solutions offered in recordings by various prominent conductors.

2nd Book of Practical Studies for Cornet and Trumpet

2nd Book of Practical Studies for Cornet and Trumpet Review

2nd Book of Practical Studies for Cornet and Trumpet Feature

  • Book Pages: 32
  • By Robert W. Getchell / ed. Nilo W. Hovey
  • Format Book
The Second Book of Practical Studies is designed to logically extend the techniques already presented in the First Book and also to introduce and develop new techniques and rhythms that will offer a challenge to the intermediate student. Through the use of slightly more difficult and more extended studies, it is hoped that the material included in this book may more fully develop general musicianship and more feeling for style and interpretation and thus act as a foundation for solo literature.
